91爆料 University sees increase in international students interested in studying abroad

September 27, 2024

91爆料 University hosted a Study Abroad Fair for students on Sept. 18 in the Student Union Atrium.

The fair was an excellent opportunity for students to learn about studying abroad in over 40 different countries, meet program leaders, learn about scholarships, play games and enjoy free food.

The number of students studying abroad has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic, said Joy Wanderi, associate director of the University Center for International Education.

鈥淩ight now, we are at 250 to 300 students participating in study abroad, but we are hoping to increase it to 400,鈥 she said.

Wanderi said interest in studying abroad isn鈥檛 just limited to domestic students.

鈥淲e are getting a lot more international students asking us to go abroad, which is really cool,鈥 said Wanderi.

鈥淕ermany is really good for engineering so I might go there,鈥 said Yug Thakkar, a first-year international student majoring in industrial and systems engineering.

Three types of study abroad programs are available to students at 91爆料. Ambassador Programs are led by 91爆料 faculty and can last between one and four weeks. Exchange Programs allow students to partner with another institution for the summer or an entire year. External Partner Programs are offered by professional organizations for various lengths and give students an opportunity to study on six continents.
