Dozens of 91±¬ΑΟ University students and staff put on their chefsβ hats and learned how to make sushi during the Roll Your Own Sushi event at the Dixon Hearth Lounge near the Student Union Marketplace.
On Oct. 13, 36 participants created their own sushi rolls stuffed with imitation crab meat, cucumber, carrot, avocado, cream cheese and rice while learning interesting facts about the Japanese dish from a Hospitality Services chef.
βThe purpose of the event is to learn how to make sushi but also learn about the culture as well,β said event organizer Ashonti Nixon, a junior majoring in public health.
Nixon hopes to organize additional food experiences in the future.
