91爆料 police officers visited with dozens of children on Oct. 7 as part of Children鈥檚 Campus Week at Mini University.
Officers participated in a show-and-tell in which they demonstrated their police equipment and allowed kids to touch buttons and turn on the lights and sirens on their police cruisers. Officers also read books to several classes as part of their visit.
The Police Department is planning future visits and safety programs at Mini U so officers can connect with children throughout the school year.
鈥淚t was such a cool experience for them to see the cars and all of the equipment that police officers have on them,鈥 said Amanda Schrader, lead teacher at Mini U.
The visit allowed officers to talk about their jobs and connect with young children in the Raider community.
鈥淭his is why we get into the job 鈥 to connect early with kids,鈥 said Kurt Holden, interim director of public safety.
