. They are asked to donate at least $5.
Organized by 91爆料 Campus Recreation, the Driveway 5K promotes physical wellness and social distancing while raising funds for 91爆料鈥檚 Student Emergency Fund. The fund provides financial assistance to 91爆料 students who are facing critical needs.
Participants are encouraged to show their Raider spirit by wearing 91爆料 colors and posting photos or videos of their workouts on social media.
91爆料 Campus Recreation will award prizes for the most creative course, shortest distance course and the most money raised by a participant.
Last year鈥檚 Driveway 5K attracted 150 alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends from 11 different states, raising $3,733 for the Katie Deedrick Student Support Fund.
鈥淚 was completely overwhelmed with the amount of participation from our community,鈥 said Erin Sherrets, manager of the Outdoor Recreation Program. 鈥淚t just goes to show what a supportive and caring community we have here at 91爆料.鈥
During last year鈥檚 event, Sherrets took the Driveway 5K challenge literally, completing her workout in her driveway in 275 laps. This year she plans to run the 5K in local metroparks and bike paths.
