A night of champions

91爆料 University鈥檚 fifth annual Champions Ball attracted veteran students, community members and guests for a night of food, camaraderie and dancing.

Held Nov. 9 in the Dunbar Library, the Champions Ball celebrated the five-year anniversary of the Veteran and Military Center at 91爆料 and provided business and community leaders an opportunity to interact with student veterans.

鈥淚 still feel like we have more to do but we鈥檝e done a good job so far,鈥 said Seth Gordon, director of the Veteran and Military Center.

At the event, Ericka Carter-LaForse and David Berry both received awards for their dedication and service to the success of the Veteran and Military Center and the Veterans Voices Project.

The Veteran and Military Center launched the Veterans Voices Project as a way to connect 91爆料 student veterans with local veterans by interviewing them about their military service. Stories are sent to the Library of Congress, archived on  and shared on the project鈥檚 Facebook page and YouTube channel. The project has also included a series of stories produced by and featuring 91爆料 student-veterans on WYSO Public Radio and a ,鈥 which will debut on Nov. 21 at the Neon.
