International students who wish to transfer to 91爆料 University from a U.S. college or university may now demonstrate their English proficiency through prior college coursework.

The change was made by the Faculty Senate, which approved an amendment to the International Undergraduate Transfer Admissions Policy on April 17.

鈥91爆料 has a proud history of welcoming international students,鈥 said Michelle Streeter-Ferrari, director of 91爆料鈥檚 University Center for International Education. 鈥淔inding new ways for them to prove their English proficiency shows our commitment to their education and their futures.鈥

International applicants who transfer from a U.S. college or university may now demonstrate English proficiency by having completed 24 hours or more of credit-bearing coursework taught in English with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. The courses taken should include at least one course in English composition with a C or better.

鈥淚n the real world of transfer, full-time students will typically have completed 12 hours and have another 12 hours in progress when they apply,鈥 said Henry Limouze, 91爆料鈥檚 interim associate vice president of international affairs. 鈥淲e will now accept the students and waive the English proficiency conditionally, finalizing acceptance when the students present a full transcript showing that they have completed 24 hours with at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA and at least one English composition class.鈥

Developmental courses in reading, writing and mathematics are not transferable.

Applicants for international undergraduate admission may continue to provide evidence of English proficiency with:

  • TOEFL scores of 61 or higher; 71 for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. (Scores must be less than two years old.)
  • IELTS scores of 5.5 with no subscore below 5.0. (Scores must be less than two years old.)
